STUNNING 1976 BROADCAST FROM SABBATH’S TECHNICAL ECSTACY TOUR • Black Sabbath began work on their seventh studio album, Technical Ecstasy, in Miami, Florida, in June 1976. During the recording of the record Ozzy Osbourne admitted that he began losing interest in Black Sabbath and considered the possibility of working with other musicians. Recording sessions were difficult and by the time the album was completed, Osbourne was admitted to Stafford County Asylum in Britain. • Released on 25th September 1976, the album featured less of the doomy, ominous sound of previous efforts, and incorporated more synthesisers and up-tempo rock songs. Technical Ecstasy failed to reach the top 50 in the U.S., and was the band's second consecutive release not to achieve platinum status, although it was later certified gold. • Touring in support of the new release began in October 1976, kicking off in the U.S. with openers Boston and Ted Nugent. AC/DC supported the group in Europe. On December 12th, the band performed at Syracuse, NY’s War Memorial Arena, where they put on what is still considered among the finest gigs of the tour. Playing a selection of cuts from their latest release alongside a number of band classics, this show remains previously unreleased, but is now available on this new CD for the first time.
