Worked just fine.

Easy to install and worked fine for a couple weeks. Then noticed the screen would fade alittle and then then brighten back up after a while. This continued until eventually the screen would go black and the bulb light on tv would flash. Removed the bulb and as you can see from the picture, the reflective coating has peeled of the housing inside the sealed bulb section. Disappointed, I'm one day past the return window. Only good thing is this was cheap, but save yourself the hassle and don't buy this.

To buy the original bulb would cost exponentially more than this replacement lamp. Sure, it may not last as long but it is certainly worth the price. If you are unsure of whether or not to buy this - or a more expensive version - you won't be disappointed with this product. I assure you.

UPDATE: The below review was correct at the time... The problem was that the bulb was loose in the housing - it should not have been. I tightened the bulb in place and it works great now. Problem was with workmanship. I would try this bulb again if the price is right._________________I bought this part after having successfully purchased a different replacement bulb/housing (generic) from another company. The price was right, as was the other one I had purchased from another company which lasted about 18 months. That's not bad timeframe as this TV is on all the time - morning to night usually. That bulb went out after 18 months - so since I had already purchased this one at about the one year mark to be ready, I put this one in...TERRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. Very dim, not focused or sharp …

This backlight provides illumination for a Sony rear projection HD, 60 inch TV. Recently, the picture seemed to be dimming especially in high ambient light conditions. It would also take several minutes for the picture to come up to full brilliance such as it was. The bulb finally went out and I was confronted with a $250 OEM replacement. Conversly, this replacement was considerably less than $50.00 and was received on-time with no problems. The replacement was easy - about as complex as changing a 1970's vintage car headlight. The TV screen brilliance is like new and I should have considerable more life in the old TV.Some reviews of other products cautioned that you should be sure to get the bulb in the replacement housing and not just the bare bulb. had problem with first lamp, however amazon replaced it after the cut off time, which is excellent customer service. Bulb world also was great in telling me what I should do, and if it didn't work they would replace it. again I think that is excellent customer service. I purchased another from bulb world, it works beautiful so far. Thanks.

While searching for a replacement for the seven year old lamp in my Sony TV, I was amazed at the differences in cost from one seller to the other. The terrific price available from this seller was too much to pass up and the great price concerned me. That concern has been wiped away. The delivery was on time, and the packaging was excellent.It took about 15 minutes to review the installation instructions in my TV set's manual, remove the old lamp and install the new one. The lamp is working well.I am expecting a long life from this lamp also.

TV lamp light never came on; TV would just go black and then would come on; it would cycle like this for hours. So I was hopeful it was just the lamp. And it was! Yeah. Bulb works great. I went cheaper with this bulb than getting the Philips brand so I am hopeful it will do well! I just installed it last night, so I will update the review overtime.Update January 8, 2013. Still going strong...sweet!!!Update again: April 29th. Still going strong...sa-weet!!Update again: May 24th: Dying; warning light just came on, picture is going dark. So it lasted about 5/6 months. We watch some TV but not 6,000 hours worth as this bulb was supposedly capable of!!!!
