This is a hard plastic sanding block with hook and loop fasteners for the sandpaper. I questioned why I would pay so much for a non-powered sanding device - until I used it. It fits nicely on the Festool 27mm dust extractor hose but you must be careful to 'pop' the block into the hose completely to get a tight fit that does not come loose (it doesn't, in spite of some other reviews here).It removes almost all of the sanding dust, I only see a few stray particles drifting away, thus keeping the work surface clean so you can see what you are doing.I've used it for rough 50 and 80 grit papers all the way up to 600 grit when applying fine finishes. To use effectively reduce the suction power on your VAC "till you can move the sanding block freely. Otherwise it has a great beat and you can dance to it.

I got this primarily for sanding drywall with my Festool Midi vacuum and it works well!Fits the same abrasives as my RTS400 sander. It doesn’t feel as high quality as I would’ve expected from Festool, it feels like hard plastic. I don’t think anything can really break on it, but I am concerned that eventually the interface pad will wear and I don’t think it can be replaced.I would’ve loved to see an option to replace the interface pad like there is on the powered sanders.Dust control with drywall is great. You will still want a corner sander for inside corners though.

This sanding block is utterly amazing. I’ve been a carpenter and woodworker for over 50 years, and am not easily impressed. This is only a sanding block, and really only suited for small jobs, but when attached to my Milwaukee M18 vac not one molecule of drywall dust escaped. The job I tried it on was only about 30 square feet of Sanding, but I am still in disbelief over how well it works. I was so impressed I immediately bought a spare while Amazon had a sale.

So as most of you looking to purchase this know, Festool is the Bombdiggedy of tool manufacturers. I say they are the Bently of the power tool market. Their products are all F-You expensive, but I cannot help it they are so well made and perform so well all I do is wait out my days until I can afford, well justify rather, buying another of their products. Thats why I'm writing this review to sauy I'm a little perplexed that they dint get this product as perfectly as their others. The problem with this device is that if you get at all agressive with this sander as you are using it, it will pop off the extractor hose. The first time it happened I was taken aback. We have multiple festool product for 4 of our crews. This is exactly what we need for providing our dustless environment while having an option for a “hand sand” control on certain drywall patches. Definitely exceeds our expectation and plan on buy 3 more for the other vans.
